What is your favorite season?

My favorite has to be the "picking" season! We love to pick anything (except for the toys from the floor or stuff in the backyard). And how can you not? There's always something so special about the way I feel out there... fresh air on the field... childhood memories... appreciation for life... Here are a few pictures from my favorite season:

I hope you can find some time to go strawberry picking... Oh, and don't forget to snap a picture or two. These were the part of my May Everyday project.

Yay!

Hi! I'm back. I just had to brag about something - I shared my "Today I am" layout in the gallery at Twopeasinabucket.com and it was picked as a featured project of the day! Really?! Here is a screenshot of the current gallery page at TwoPeas:

Yes, capturing a screenshot, is something new I learned today too! Well, congratulations to me and I am off to go eat some strawberries after a hard work in my garden.

See you later!

SS Challenge week 15

There was so much to share in the time I was missing but, as some of the scrapbookers say, sometimes life gets in the way. I was blogging everyday in my head, but those posts aren't here for some reason. Anyway, we got six layouts from the past challenge. Here they are:

and a close up:

I made this one for my husband. I forgot to order a couple of pictures, but that's what nice about this type of layouts - I can always replace any of the patterned paper square with a photo.

... and a close up. The paper pack I used for this layout was so rich that I didn't need anything else to dress up these squares.

There were three pages made by new contestants. I can't really comment on any of these since I was involved in all of them. Very much involved. Well, here is the first one, which was made by Tanya:

... and a close up. NC stand for North Carolina.

Second one was made by Irina. I really hope she takes a moment to write a little journaling for this layout. This is the one that she and her kids would love to read over and over again. Here is her page:

... close up of metal piece, which I totally love:

And a third one by Suzanna. She didn't do the whole layout, but she chose her pictures, papers, wrote her journaling and decided to use circles for her page. Here is Suzanna's layout:

... and a close up:

And this lovely page was made by Katya. Her pictures say it all. I like how she matted all of her photos and added her title to the side, making it a little more interesting yet staying close to the challenge. Here is Katya's page:

With the nice weather outside and so much things to do during summer, we don't always get as much time to scrapbook. For that reason, I decided to spread our challenges for two weeks apart. I will share anything I create (or should I say "I'll try"), but our SS will be two weeks long for summer time. If you create something you would like to share, just send it in and I'll post it along with my random pages.

SS Challenge for week 16 - Black and white plus one color. Make a page with black/white patterned papers and add one more color to it (you can use different shades of that color).

See you next time!

Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Sister!

SS Challenge - week 15

For those who have been with us from the very beginning of our challenges, there were at least 15 new layouts made this year! Thank you for sharing this journey with us!

Last week I asked each of you to send me answers to the same questions along with your layouts. It was fun reading your responses and seeing more lovely creations. Thanks for participating again! So, I'll start with myself:

Me

1. What time of the day do you like to scrapbook the most? - The time when my precious little girl is taking a nap. I like daylight, so I usually scrap during the day.

2. Your favorite color to work with on a layout (not a color combination). - Even though I seem to have brown on all of my pages, my favorite has to be orange at the moment. It just makes me happy.

3. What do you snack on or drink when you scrapbook? - I don't. Can't afford the consequences if something gets spilled on my papers. But I do get a cup of tea or coffee and sit at my computer looking for inspiration just before that. It's like a warm up.
4. What is your favorite tool at the moment? - It has to be the one I use all the time - my Corner Rounder Punch. Can't complete a page without it.

5. I wish I had more time to scrapbook. This is one thing you never have enough for anything!

For our challenge we had to scraplift someones page. I love scraplifting because someone has already spent enough time on design and still every time you scraplift your page turns out a little more your way, a little more like you. The original page was made by Nancy Damiano, you can click HERE to see her page. And here is my take on it:

For my title I typed initials of the city and cut them out with scissors:

Katya
1. What time of the day do you like to scrapbook the most? - I like to scrapbook after 11 pm.
2. Your favorite color to work with on a layout (not a color combination). - My favorite color to work with is brown.
3. What do you snack on or drink when you scrapbook? - I don't snack on anything when i scrapbook. I usually have a big meal before that.
4. What is your favorite tool at the moment? - My favorite tool is a Corner Rounder.
5. I wish I had more - more paper (and punches, and tape runners, and lots of ribbons).

The only reason for having a challenge is to motivate ourselves to create something during the week. Katya had enough motivation to complete 3 pages. She didn't scraplift her layouts but she is happy to share one of them with us today. My favorite part is that she cut off the paper where that large butterfly was and added it on top of her layout for dimension and extended her page with a solid color paper which was a perfect space for her title. Here is Katya's page:

Lora
1. What time of the day do you like to scrapbook the most? - Usually it happens in the evening or late at night. But a couple of times I've scrapped in the morning.
2. Your favourite color to work with on a layout (not a color combination). - Favorite color? I'm not sure that I have one, but if I had to choose I'd probably pick brown.
3. What do you snack on or drink when you scrapbook? - I don't snack on anything, it's too much hassle, then I have to wipe my fingers, but I do have a bottle of water next to me or a cup of tea.
4. What is your favorite tool at the moment? - I don't really have that many tools, need to invest in some, but don't want to buy too much, because I was promised a Silhouette pretty soon :) So anyways, I'd have to say my scissors, that have different patterns on them.
5. I wish I had more time!!!

Lora followed our challenge and for her layout she scraplifted a page by one of my favorite scrapbookers - Stephanie Dagan. Here is original layout by Stephanie. I like everything about Lora's page here especially her choice of colors. This page is a great example that you don't have to have tons of pictures to make a good layout. Good design of elements makes it very pleasant to the eye. Here is Lora's page:

Anka

1. What time of the day do you like to scrapbook the most? - The time of the day when I like to scrapbook is evening to night. Probably 6pm-12pm.
2. Your favorite color to work with on a layout (not a color combination). - My absolute favorite color is brown, anywhere and everywhere!
3. What do you snack on or drink when you scrapbook? - I definitely drink tea continuously and periodically snack on graham crackers with peanut butter and raisins.
4. What is your favorite tool at the moment? - My favorite tool is always slot punch tool that sets all kinds of eyelets and creates slots to weave ribbon through.
5. I wish I had more pictures to scrapbook, but eto yzhe ispravlyaetsya, lol.

Unlike many other scrapbookers, who use scraplifting to ease the process and save time, Anka finds it difficult to scraplift and likes to go in her own direction and just create! My favorite part about her page here has to be the way she cut parts of her decorative paper and used some of it to overlap her pictures. The way she pinned her journaling block is very creative too. Here is Anka's page:

Okay. I think that was the longest blog post yet! Or at least it took me the most time to write everything down. And now is the time for our new challenge.

I promised a very easy challenge for this week. Here we go: Make a page about here and now using one of the examples below. Ali Edwards is an advocate of scrapbooking the real life and everyday moments. She is not about all the prettiness but about reality. In one of the Creating Keepsakes magazines she encouraged readers to make a page out of stuff that laid around their table. Our life changes all the time. What is there that reminds or describes your life at the moment? I want each one of us to make that VERY SIMPLE page using the repetition of shapes of photos and papers. It can have a little or no journaling. That how easy it is. Anyone, ANYONE can do this. I expect my kids to participate. And I expect the biggest member participation yet. Here are a few examples of those pages:

Ali Edwards made a number of those. Here are a few of them: ONE, TWO, THREE and FOUR. Robyn Werlich made a very pretty but simple one HERE. And Kandis Smith scraplifted her page HERE . A good example of similar layout, but having circles instead of squares is made by Susan Weinroth HERE. More circles by Keely B HERE. HERE is another example by Michelle Lindenmayer. And one more by TwoPeas member under name Melsboys HERE. You got the idea.

Good luck everyone. I'm expecting a flow of layouts coming in this week.
Have a great week, enjoy the beautiful weather and take more pictures!

National Scrapbooking Day

Happy National Scrapbooking Day! I just had to make a page on this day. Well, I started it yesterday, had all of my paper choices made and pre-cut, but changed them all again this morning. I do like it better this way. Here is my simple page "Обдуванчики":

This page was inspired by Candice Greenway. She has her own signature style where all of the elements on her pages have rounded corners. I wanted to try one of them for a long time and I like how quickly this page came along.

Using my embellishments by Jillibean Soup and loving them!

I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day and hope that National Scrapbooking Day got you in the mood to make something creative.

Stink Bug"

National Scrapbook Day is May 7!

In Celebration of National Scrapbook Day Big Picture Classes and Creating Keepsakes Magazine are teaming up to bring you a fun-filled Creative Crop for National Scrapbook Day! The online event will kick-off on Saturday, May 7th at 9am PST. You can look forward to 12 jam-packed hours offering creative challenges every hour, live chats with industry professionals, amazing giveaways, and constant inspiration and interaction! The best part? It's all FREE!

Good morning!

I like to start my morning with a special, one of a kind cup. I had my red cup with white polka dots for a long time and then it's ear broke off. Yesterday, I found this one at Kohl's and thought it would be a nice replacement:

I should admit - I'm very good at starting new projects and not as good at finishing them. Please don't stand on my way, or I may just loose my concentration and then it will be too hard to get back on track. This time it was my printer who wanted to spoil it for me. It ran out of ink (as I told you before). I had to print pictures b/w, but they just don't look as good. She was dressed in pink and had pink petals all over the bed, but you can't see it.

I still didn't glue anything, just in case my new pictures will be slightly different in size. I just hope it doesn't take me too long to get my new print, so I don't loose my interest.

This was a scraplift as well. Original page was made by so very talented Stephanie Dagan. Unfortunately Stephanie is not a member of TwoPeas Garden anymore and we don't get to see her work anymore. She works with one of the French magazines, which means, French people get to enjoy her work, not us.

How is everyone's scraplift coming along this week? Is it baking already or are you just gathering the ingredients for it? By baking I totally didn't mean something that you can eat, as some of us could think.

See you later.
