Whatever you call them

"Draniki", "Kartoplyaniki", "Kartofel'nie Oladi" - whatever you call them, we love them all. My mom shared with me that adding cooked potatoes to the recipe, as she read in one of the magazines, will make them even better. And it totally changed the way these taste and look.

I might be the last one to find out about it, but just in case someone didn't know just yet, now you do. Now every time I have some cooked potato leftover, I make Kartoplyaniki.


We serve them with sour cream or Adjika. Or both. Some of my family members eat them with ketchup, but I don't like ketchup as much, I think it kills the taste of whatever you are eating. What do eat Kartoplyaniki with?

    Mmmm, kartofelnie oladushki...we do like to eat them :) I actually have made them before with mashed potatoes, they come out so tender and so good! Love to have them with sour cream. I actually have so left over mashed potatoes, so will be making some of these (haven't in a while) :) Thanks for reminding us about another yummy recipe :)

    Love kartoplyaniki!!! my choice would be with sour cream, only I mix it half sourcream and half greek yogurt for a little healthier choice. And the last time we tried yours were really delicious.
    Thank you for the cooking tip, I haven't made them with mashed potatos before. Got to try it.

    Moya babushka used to make these for us when we were little and she made them completely from raw potatoes. What's weird is that I absolutely hated them and never ate them since then. To me, making them completely (not partially) from cooked potato sounds really appealing and I think I will give them a try now.

    mmmm.. this is making me hungry ;/ and I am always hungry so I should go make these and will definitly try adding a cooked potato to the recipe :) sounds soo goood!!!!!!!! they taste delicious with sour cream!!!!

    ya predpochitau prosto talchenyu kartoshky, ili zharenyu kysochkami. a tolchenyu i zatem zharenyu...chto to ne tyanet. ny y kogo kakoi vkys. A esli otzhiki nety, to em salsa, a ne sour cream.

    Duska, don't even start with salsa...now I want some. That was one of my early cravings (one of the couple that I had in the beginning :) I don't crave it badly now, but sure do have a preference of eating it over other things :)
