Looking back at 2013...

I love to check blog posts by other scrapbookers that summarize their favorite projects of the year. I don't do that, but I do like to go back and do some type of summery, to see how the past year looks like through creative glasses. Last night I scrolled down through entire 2013th year of blogging and jotted down some things... I can surely say, it was a GREAT YEAR!

 In 2013 -

1. I created 34 page layouts.

A little smaller number than expected, but that's a whole new album full of memories! I don't like to pick favorites from my own work, but if I had to... I would pick this one. I always like a page more if I use photos that I love. Products that I love also help to achieve the desired result.

If you judge by the number of repins on Pinterest, I guess I found a favorite layout among readers and other scrapbookers. I came across THIS this on Pinterest:

I don't know how it is possible, but that page was repinned 474 times! (Update: 902 times) Thank you ladies! That really adds a boost of confidence! Just what I need sometimes!

 2. In 2013 I made at least 84 cards!

I made a few that never got on the blog, because they were either similar to the ones I've already shared or were made to order and gone too fast, before I even snapped a picture.

A favorite card by cardmakers? I don't have screenshots, but have seen my "You've got mail" card repinned many times, and it also got the most views and comments in the Two Peas gallery. Plus, I got a couple of e-mails, asking about instructions for it.

I didn't make a tutorial yet, but I hope to do one soon, as I promised the ladies who e-mailed.

In 2013 I made 15 explosion boxes!

Considering these are a little time consuming, that was pretty amazing! Another interesting fact is that I made 5 in the first 11 months and 10 in December. Favorite? Probably the one that had two more boxes nested inside, which was made for my little sister...

I did another year of Project Life - 52 weeks of photos!

I don't have 52 spreads, since I had to combine a few weeks together and I didn't journal as much as I wanted, but the year of photos are in! Hope to share a few weekly spreads sometimes soon. I used this simple but gorgeous "Midnight" edition set.

I plan to continue on using same set this year too, since I have enough cards left to complete another Project Life album!

In 2013 I did 109 posts!

That's not near as much as some other people do, but it sounds like an accomplishment to me. The most popular one? - "Scrapbooking on a budget" - It has over 3,500 views! I'm not sure what, but I guess I did something right there... or maybe that subject just sounded interesting to many. Second most popular post - "8.5x11 versus 12x12", also one of the "Scrapbooking on a Budget" posts.

In 2013 we added over 5,400 photos to our library.

That's what I have left after deleting about twice as much. It would be impossible to pick just one favorite photo of the year! But this one sure is one of them:

In 2013 I was invited to be on a design team!

A very special thank you to Julie and her team of talented and creative people of Les Papiers de Pandore! I'm completely in love with the products they release and hope to continue on this fun journey! Favorite collection? Love them all! Well, I guess "Crochetin'" at the moment...

... maybe because that's the one I'm working on right now!

In 2013 I was published in a French Scrapbooking magazine!

What an honor! Thank you ladies! Thank you Esprit Scrapbooking magazine! Looking back, I remember it feeling like a dream. It sounded too good to be true! I didn't totally understand that they are publishing an interview and a whole bunch of work in a separate article!

In 2013 I won a weekly challenge and a gift certificate for Two Peas in a Bucket store and a surprise box from Nancy Damiano!

It was a great year! Thank you 2013 for a lot of blessings and great memories! Thank you new followers and a BIG thank you to those who take a minute to leave a comment!

Hello 2014!

Happy New Year dear friends and visitors! I wish 2014 will bring you lots of joy, happiness, blessings from above and many opportunities to be creative!

I don't usually like to make New Year's resolutions or set some type of goals, because I fell like I'm setting myself up for a failure. But today, I came across a fun fill-in-the-blank on Jones design company blog and it decided to fill it out! I did adjust a few questions on the list, to make it sound with a little less pressure.

Here is my take on it...
                                             THIS YEAR:

1.  A bad habit I'd like to break: Staying up too late.
2.  A new skill I'd like to learn: How to use Adobe Photoshop.
3.  A person I want to be more like: My husband.
4.  A good deed I'd like to do: Fulfill Alena's dream about going on a missionary trip.
5.  A place I'd like to visit: France! Being more realistic: Canada.
6.  A book I'd like to read: More children's books to my little girl.
7.  A new food I'd like to try: All the healthy recipes I pinned on Pinterest.
8.  I'd like to be brave enough to: throw away things I don't use.
9.  I want to find time to do more: Sewing.
10. I want to cut back on: Sweets.
11. I want to be better at: Using camcorder more often!
Writing down little things for Project Life...
                                          Reading Bible everyday...
                                           Cooking healthier meals...
Keeping my promises on the blog...
                                             Eating smaller portions...
Leaving sparkly clean sink every night...
                                               Playing tennis and volleyball...
                                                Sending more cards...
                                                 Growing a better garden...
                                                  Charging a cell phone...

Well, that was fun! But, as you can see, I had a little problem picking just one thing for number 10. I want to ask my girls to fill this one out also. And my husband too. This could totally be used as journaling on a page. Well, since this is a scrapbooking blog, let me do one on that subject too! Copy. Paste. Repeat...

1.  A bad habit I'd like to break: Moving tiny little thing around the page 300 times.
2.  A new skill I'd like to learn: How to bind a book.
3.  A person I want to be more like: I want to take photos like Karen Russell does.
4.  A good deed I'd like to do: Help scrapbooking store in Russia or Ukraine.
5.  A place I'd like to visit: CHA! - Craft and Hobby Association.
6.  A book I'd like to read: I'd like to take a "Scrapbooking from the Soul" class instead.
7.  A new food I'd like to try: No food around scrapbooking supplies!
8.  I'd like to be brave enough to: Organize a once-a-month scrapbooking day with friends!
9.  I want to find time to do more: Pages! A lot more pages.
10. I want to cut back on: Buying scrapbooking paper.
11. I want to be better at: Writing journaling...
                                           Cleaning table after each project...
                                            Getting in the camera sometimes...
                                             Taking everyday photos...
                                               Making cards ahead of time...
                                                 Photographing projects...
                                                  Cleaning stamps right away...
                                                    Posting more often...
                                                     Writing in English...
                                                       Having more giveaways...
                                                        Printing pictures more often...
                                                         Getting a page done faster...

Again, a list of things I want to be better at is longer than the whole thing together. I guess there's always something we want to be better at. I wish I could read some of your answers too :)

Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great day and a great beginning of a New fun and creative Year!

See you son!

Birthday meal...

Christmas explosion boxes...

Hello friends! I hope you've had a wonderful Christmas! We certainly did! One of our favorite parts this Holiday was caroling. We went right after dinner and were able to stop by at least twenty homes to sing and wish people Merry Christmas! I don't know about the people we visited, but our hearts were filled with joy!

Another thing, I made 10 explosion boxes this month! These seven were made using mostly Teresa Collins paper in a red, white and silver color combination.

For the most part, all of them included same elements inside and out, we just slightly changed the pattern paper as we went. The girls helped me make these for their friends.

I really enjoyed working on a mass production of these boxes! We spent the time together singing, laughing, learning, drinking tea, eating chocolate and making a big mess!)))

We used everything here - die cuts, embossing, printables, pop dots, glue dots, ribbon, punches, hand cut elements, glitter, pearls, twine...

The other three boxes I didn't even get a chance to photograph. I was finishing them late at night and they were picked up early in the morning. I guess it's good to have a few of these available at home, along with cards.

Did you have time to make something in your creative corner? December is always SO busy! I'm glad I started working on cards back in October this year!

Thank you for stopping by and hope to see you soon!

Merry Christmas!

If there was a December Daily...

December 22... Three more days til Christmas... Nine days til the end of the year... It seems a little quieter then usual in the blogging world. This December is flying by so fast! Did I do everything I planned? No. But I enjoyed every moment we spent together this holiday season! I'm not making a DD album this year, but if there was one, here is how it would look...

Day 1. I really wanted to concentrate more on true meaning of Christmas this year. We started by reading the Christmas story from the Bible...

Day 2. Kids had a day off from school. I'm glad they were able to spend the day with their friends - two of them had a birthday on December second...

Day 3. We decorated the outside with Christmas lights today.

Day 4. Right about here I started loosing the real meaning of Christmas by ordering more gifts for our kids. These were the ones I ordered on Black Friday, but I kept getting a package almost every day...

Day 5. We had a visit from grandparents! And as you know, these are the type of people that can't come empty handed...

Day 6. Awesome day! My two older girls took over in kitchen - cleaning, cooking... Is there a better present than that?

Day 7. Another busy day. I didn't have a picture for this day, so I just used one that is really from December 2 that Alena took...

Day 8. Unexpectedly, we got a lot of snow  today. Barely got home from church, the roads were really slippery, but at least everything looked so pretty!

Day 9. The girls decided it was warm enough to pay volleyball! Well, not really, they just stayed long enough until I got the photo they wanted:)

Day 10. Got more snow! Beautiful day! The kids played outside a lot.

Day 11. Having fun with cousins. Two live next door and one came from Florida to visit.

Day 12. We visited the Sight and Sound Theater to see "The Miracle of Christmas" show. The show was absolutely amazing! So was the company.

Day 13. We finally went to get our Christmas Tree today!  As soon as we arrived, local news people stopped by to talk to the person who was selling trees and I'm pretty sure Liana got to be in the camera at some point :)

Same day. Decorated our fresh Christmas tree! Lots of laughter, music and hot chocolate!

Day 14. Girls added ornaments to outside evergreens. We went to a Christmas party, which happens to be the only date for the two of us :)

Day 15. It snowed and rained all night. The roads looked pretty bad. We stayed home and baked cream cheese sugar cookies in snowflake shapes together.

Looking through the window into a fairy tale world covered in crystal...

...That's a little peek at our first half of December this year. If I get a chance I might post the second half later, but for now it's getting really late. Got to go now. Good night!

Hope to see you here soon! If I don't get a chance to come back by 25th -

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Winter shades...

Good Monday morning! I think I forgot how busy the Holiday Season is... How can today be the sixteenth of December already? I didn't have much time for anything creative last week, except a few minutes to finish a layout I made earlier and to make a card.

For both of these projects I used Les Papiers de Pandore papers.

I love illustrations in this collection, especially this cute little bird!

And a page in same color combination about my favorite winter activity - watching through the window how kids play outside :) Pictures are from last winter season.

 And few close ups:

Last week I kind of missed making DD this year... Yes, we are so very busy, but it helped me stay focused on those happy moments and enjoy the season even more. I'm still taking pictures every day, just not doing the day to day journaling.

Hope you enjoy this time of the year! Christmas music really helps me! We have music on 24/7... well, not quite, but for the most time we either have a radio on or a live piano performance!

Have the most wonderful time of the year!

See you soon!
