Hi, there was this sewing project I wanted to share with you last week but never got to it. It's no fun to share it now, because most of you have seen it already in person, but for those who didn't, here is what I made:
I wanted a grey skirt for a while, but couldn't find one that I like.
I didn't have a pattern for it so I had to do it the way I thought was right, adjusting along the way.
These ruffles were cut out of circles (just realized I don't know much sewing terminology) and gathered just a little. Hamming them was a little challenging, but since they are not in a straight line you can't see little flaws on them.
Originally I wanted to make more flair at the bottom part, but was afraid that I will run out of fabric. Glad I didn't, I had just enough to complete the skirt. Loved this fabric. It was soft, easy to work with and it is almost wrinkle free. The best part of it was that the total cost for the skirt was just a little over $15 if you add elastic.

This is so pretty!!! I've been having a skirt design lingering in my head for a while that I would love to sew but good luck finding time...:( Is that skirt for you or someone else? It looks like that it's someone else wearing it.

Irochka, that's exactly where my idea came from! Ira shared a picture on her phone and I've only sen it for a few seconds. Sorry, but it got stuck in my head and I decided to give it a try. I didn't see all the details, just the basic idea. :)
I thought you made it!!! I was going to ask you on Sunday, but then in the hassle of things, I forgot. Great job! Very inspiring, but no time to do something...And Tanya is right, you looked great!! We need to get together and do exercises with our babies :)

ОтветитьУдалитьAnya I agree with everyone else, that skirt is absolutely gorgeous!!! I fell in love with it the first time i saw it at iras house! I want one so bad in black! And gray! And now in white (thanks katya)! :-) what's not fair is that my mommy was going to make it for me!!!!! :-/ but its ok, you did look really good in it.

ОтветитьУдалитьActually it will be my pleasure, they are so cute at this age. I have more trouble with babies that crying nonstop, I just feel helpless then.
Not sure if all the colors on the color wheel will work for this kind of skirt, but that is an idea though. LETS GO WITH BRIGHT YELLOW! WOW! Or would that be a little too much of the sunshine? :))
